Universidad.es present at the Future Indian Leaders reception hosted by HRH the Prince of Asturias
The Director of Institutional and International Relations of the Universidad.es Foundation, César Álvarez Alonso, attended the reception hosted by HRH the Prince of Asturias, Felipe de Borbón, for representatives and participants in the first edition of the “Future Indian Leaders” programme, announced recently by the Spain-India Council Foundation.
The Spain-India Council Foundation is a private cultural foundation supported by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. Since its creation in 2009 it has worked to establish a framework of mutually beneficial relations between Spain and India in areas such as economic, trade and business cooperation, as well as pursuing a range of cultural, scientific, civic, educational and environmental goals. The Universidad.es Foundation has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Spain-India Council Foundation since 2010, following an invitation issued by the Directorate General for Foreign Policy (Asia and the Pacific) at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
India is a key player in international higher education today, with over 150,000 students involved in courses of study abroad. The Indian government has implemented major reforms across its higher education system in an effort to increase the international profile of its universities.
The Universidad.es Foundation contributes to and benefits from the synergies created by the activities of the Spain-India Council Foundation and their positive impact on the bilateral relations between the two nations. Within this framework, Universidad.es organises various activities aimed at raising the profile of the Spanish university system among the Indian academic community, such as the first Spanish university fair in India, held last year.
Universidad.es is a public sector foundation that aims to promote the Spanish university system throughout the world. The foundation was set up by the Spanish government, with the support of Spain’s regional governments, the universities themselves and other institutions, on 23 December 2008.
