Spanish universities represented at NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo

For the third year in a row, the Universidad.es Foundation represented the Spanish university system at the Conference and Expo organized by NAFSA (Association of International Educators). This year saw the 64th edition of the event, which was held 27 May−1 June in Houston (Texas) and attended by individual representatives of 23 Spanish universities.

The 2012 NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo gathered together more than 8,000 participants from 120 countries, in representation of over 3,500 institutions. NAFSA, the world’s largest international higher education meeting, is acknowledged across the education sector as an excellent opportunity for creating and extending networks and bilateral agreements between higher education institutions throughout the world.

The Spanish pavilion, which was jointly promoted by the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX), occupied a total area of 400 m2, divided into two spaces separated by a central aisle. It was one of the most popular pavilions with visitors to the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston over the four days of this prestigious event.

The extensive presence of Spanish universities at the NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo was a chance to showcase the quality of undergraduate and postgraduate training in Spain and to publicise the range of study, research and exchange options open to international students and academics.

Universidad.es is a public sector foundation that aims to promote the Spanish university system throughout the world. The foundation was set up by the Spanish government, with the support of Spain’s regional governments, the universities themselves and other institutions, on 23 December 2008.
